Grand Theft - Disco Remix

This is the original Sh0ve !t (lp version):

Then came a ton of remixes. First there was the Sw!tch remix:

Then Spankr0ck jumped on it:

There was a D!sc0 D (R.I.P.) remix on the Top Rankin mixtape:

Then came the Thr33 6 Maf!a remix:

and now, Team Canada's very own Grand Theft gives it a disco treatment:

Grand Th3ft - Shoveit (Disco Remix)

The Switch remix was enough fire to be my favourite version of Sh0ve !t but now GrandTh3ft done did it. He gave this track a disco treatment and produced what is now my new fav remix of this track. Now I got two versions for two different parties/moods. Words from Grand Theft below.
Heres a remix I did at the end of last summer. Its been under wraps for a while but is getting posted a bunch of spots this week I think. Some of the homies like U-Tern, Hedspin and Illo have broken this track in some dope mixes they have done. Thanks to Uncle Jesse for the artwork. Good summer vibes. Enjoy. [source: Eh! Team]
As a bonus, here's the lyrics as well. Singalong now.
SHOVE IT

Brooklyn we go hard_
We on the look for the advantage, we work hard_
And if we seem to rough it up a bit_
We broke but we rich at heart_
Pull ourselves up now we won't choke_
It's our time, put the lights on us__

War tactics they make me sick_
Reel your heart in run away with it_
Smile in your face, undermine your back_
Got guns for the strength they lack_
So if you know another way_
You can't look the other way_
If you know another way,_
Tell them so right to their face__

We think you're a joke_
Shove your hope where it don't shine (4x)__

I pay for what's called _
Eccentricity and my will to evolve_
I hear them all say_
That I got heart_
But not everything that it takes__

Taint my mind but not my soul_
Tell you I got fire_
I wont sell it for no payroll_
Let 'em hold me down_
I know if I know another way_
I can't look the other way_
I know another way_
I'll tell them so right to their face__

We think you're a joke_
Shove your hope where it don't shine (4x)

DJ Cl@ss ft Kany3 W3st - !'m The Sh!t (R3m!x)

DJ Cl@ss ft Kany3 W3st - !'m The Sh!t (R3m!x)
Bonus: DJ Cl@ss - I'm The Sh!t (original)

Song of the year! Yes, already. I know it came out at the end of 2008 but it's getting it's club love all over 2009. But can it last til the end of the year? We all know songs released in summer/fall tend to get the end of the year nod as top dog. Nevertheless - DJ Class is major. Who cares if it's released in January - that just means we have the entire year to enjoy this jam at all the parties through summer and fall and winter too.

There's a ton of remixes out there. Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupri, Kid Cudi, and now Ye. I wanna hate on Ye but this one's ok. It's sad but the auto-tune makes the remix. I didn't think I'd ever write that last sentence. I'm the shit indeed.

Keys n Krates - The Longest Night

Keys n Krates - The Longest Night / z/s/h/a/r/e / mediafire

Conceived early in 2008, Toronto's Keys N Krates bring new meaning to the dancefloor remix. The group consists of frontman, Eh! Team DJ Jr-Flo, eclectic soul musician and keyboardist Matisse, and drummer Tune. Their set blends hip-hop and electronic instrumentation with party breaks and world class turntablism, creating live renditions of favorite party tunes thats something to be both seen and heard.

Recently reviewed by URB Magazine as standouts during New York's CMJ Music Fest, the group has landed some high profile shows, playing URB Magazines Holiday Party and with Questlove of The Roots at the famous SOB's in Manhattan.

With DJs being at the forefront of live performances in 2008, Keys N' Krates is ready to re-introduce their audiences to the sound of true live music with a unmistakably unique party flip.

Originally from Toronto and now living, recording, and showcasing in New York this 3 member band breaks ground as a remix concept band. If you want to desribe it in words simply put it's a DJ led band. Imagine a DJ rocking a party but there's a live band jamming and vibing and remixing shit live on the spot with the DJ. Like, whoa. That's Keys n Krates and that's dope.

(edit - what happens if L!0nel R!tch!e, M!cha3l and Jan3t Jackson, Glor!a Est3fan, and D3p3ch3 Mod3 had a baby? You'd get the love child of "The Longest Night")

If you're in Montreal on Friday Jan 16th check them out at Academy Club Prive

Forgot About Remixes

D,r D.r$e ft E Mi(n)e M - F()rgOt Bout D.r$e (Morsy Mix) | z/s/h/a/r/e

Morsy has been making noise on the remix tip lately. This is on the dance remix tip much like the "Kic k Dru ms" remix of Thuggish Ruggish Bone. Bonus video below is another remix of this track done by DJ Macca who adds verses from Fifty and Wayne.

Miss Independent (of Destiny`s Child) vs Mr Pee On The Youth

Be.Y O.n(c)e - I$f I W@s A B()Y (R K#l!y remix) | z/s/h/a/r/e

Classic! R K#l!y goes in on Be.Y O.n(c)e's latest and only he can do it like he can do it. The best part is they're both serious, but the man takes it cause he just pisses all over her (pun intended). The melodrama from both is pure Guido Fist Pump though (I just had to blog about the best website of the week!)

Viva La Hova, OJayZis, G-r-e-y Album - Jay-Z Triple Play

viva la hova front_400 by you.
viva la hova back_400 by you.

Colplay vs Jay-Z - Viva La Hova
Bonus: Oasis vs Jay-Z - O-Jay-Zis
And 1: Beatles vs Jay-Z - The Grey Album

"My name is HOV (HOV!) / Cold-to-the-Play-Z" (thank you, that was freebee)

Truth be told I'm not a big Coldplay nor Jay-Z fan. I know. I remember I was working in campus/community radio when Coldplay first broke onto the scene. Everyone knew they were gonna be huge but no one realized that they'd make the jump so quickly, and rather successfully, from the c/c sector (always hated that reference) to the mainstream one. And today, 10 years after their debut, it's finally OK for hip hop fans to publicly express love for Coldplay.

I don't know what it is about Jay-Z that seems to make him the cornerstone of these "mash-up" albums but this is the third remix album that pits him against the very best in rock. Producers and DJs alike use his commercial reach, mass appeal, and crossover audience to create a statement by pairing him against an artist of equivalent stature. Even with "Viva La Hova", "O-Jay-Zis", and of course "The Grey Album" all centred around this Brooklyn MC, each has left it`s own unique mark.

Whether you love or hate either camp, when a project such as this matches heavyweights from different divisions you can't help but be curious how it's going down. So as a special treat here are all 3 projects in case you`re mising any of them. Go get them all above.

A Classic 70s Update

dplobyrhd by you.

Diplo - Blow Your Head (DJ Eli Remix) z/s/h/a/r/e

You KNOW this is gonna be RADICCHIO. Diplo with a DJ Eli remix? You might as well be dancing now before the song even starts. SICK update of a James Brown classic. Eli Escobar is one of my favorite remix producers out there. Have you heard that M.I.A. remix of Jimmy? Hella gouda. Just like this one.
