The word "juke" has been around since Jim Crow was keeping the fun out of everything (and not just the clubs), but it's current resonance in dance culture might just come from one of Million $ Mano's remixes. As in "I don't know how he did it, but dude just juked the shit out of it". It's like reacting to Iverson cross over Jordan...there's a certain contortion of one's face and a tendency to scrunch up favourably into the fetal position...possibly followed by a slow, drawn out, daaaaaaaamn" or even a "shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-iiiiiiiiiiiit" like one was channeling Clay Davis of The Wire.
Chicago-bred super-producer and the DJ extraordinaire wonder-kid, Million Dollar Mano, has been killing Chicago mainstream nightclubs and hipster/scenster depots for over three years. His music is inarguably the most exciting thing going on in Chicago right now…hands down. His musical selections are wide and varied; ranging from Hip Hop to indie Rock and most definitely Dance and Electro.- Laced Magazine

TONIGHT - SKRATCH BASTID (Montreal) & DJ DISORIENTAL (Calgary / Red Bull 3 Style Champ) - Friday May 15th @ Shine! 2 BIG DJs, 1 BIG PARTY!!
GET UP GET DOWN - THE REMIX presents

Facebook | Clubzone | Shine | Blog | Tigerstone
Disoriental's real dj career began when he was introduced to turntables by his neighborhood friend. Hooked like cooked crack so began his journey into the world of djing. Along the way Disoriental lived out his calling as an aZn scratch nerd calling, winning a few DMC and local battles, making a few successful mixtapes (featured in URB, Mixwell), immersing himself in spinal research, as well as growing facial hair (the latter taking several years). He learned the in and out, and the in and outs of the industry, playing alongside a bunch of really good djs, travelling here and there and generally being his Chinese parents nightmare (Shout outs to So-Real crew, Randy Jackson thank you).
Lately, technology and the interwebs have allowed Disoriental to branch out even more into the world of music production. His edits and remixes have appeared on the likes of playlists from local heroes Smalltown DJs and Eh Team Djs' Pump, all the way to Cosmo Baker and Dj Eleven from the Rub. He's honed his party skills at numerous successful residencies around town as well as winning the title of "Calgary's Best Party Rocker" during the Red Bull 3-Style competition.
Today when hes not changing his dogs diapers or sitting at his desk at school watching hood videos, Disoriental is still setting booty traps, entertaining people with iron chef - like skills combined with the grandoise of the Beijing olympics. Feel the magic.

GUGD: MAT THE ALIEN (Whistler / The ORIGINAL Red Bull 3 Style Champ / From Outer Space)
MAT THE ALIEN – http://www.myspace.com/matthealien
Let’s clear something up - technically Mat is not an Alien though after seeing him play a DJ set you’d think otherwise!
He’s been DJ’ing since ’88 but it was after being introduced to the DJ culture of the Acid House warehouse party scene that he was really hooked on blending beats on the turntables. He further developed his style while working in his family’s record store (opened by his dad in the UK when Mat was just 4) and it wasn’t until after he arrived in Canada that his turntable abilities suddenly jumped to new heights. Heights later described by Knowledge Magazine as, “awe inspiring & some next level shit.”
Mat’s music selection appeals to a wide variety of crowds, spanning many genres from Hip-Hop, Funk, Dancehall, Breakbeats, Drum & Bass, Rock, and more. He has toured across the globe at events of up to 10,000 people, pioneering regular club nights in Whistler, Vancouver and even held down a bi-weekly residency in Las Vegas at Eye Candy (at Mandalay Bay) for 8 months.
At shows Mat is known for his pristine, quick mixing of many genres (usually driven by heavy bass-lines) and scratching techniques that really do sound like they came from another world. Did Mat really get abducted by aliens? We’ll never know but one thing is certain, he has proven time and time again that he plays out of this world DJ sets.

Blackal!c!ous ft G!l Sc0tt H3r0n - First In Flight
This song came to mind immediately when I saw this photo. "First in flight, cause all we got is rhythm and time. First in flight, we go beyond the edge of the sky". Gil Scott-Heron has the best voice and he makes this track just like the birds make this photo. Do you think he was singing about crack when he was wrote these lyrics? Click the photo for a link to see it in full HD glory.
