Oh wee here we go with the re-launch.

Every Friday I send out a weekly newsletter containing event updates, pics, flyers, and general happs (happenings) regarding Get Up Get Down - Fridays @ Shine. I also add in info about other hot parties around town. This has been going on for the past 5 years but, only recently, I have started to include music reviews and other related news. It's this last part that got me posting today.

Every Friday you will find the newest feature of this nu new blog: "Get Up Get Down - The Set List". You may or may not know that we run a sick club night every Friday Night (Get Up Get Down) and The Set List is just that - music reviews and vibes you will hear at the club on Friday Nights. We got 2 rooms with 2 different styles and both get slammed...hard! So let's go get it cause there's a lot more Internet to finish.

Jazzanova ft P h o n t e (Little Brother) - Look What You're Doing To Me

FTW this shit is hella gouda. Yo Kanye - pay attention, take a listen, auto-tune will NEVER sound like this. Eh Yo Kanye, Phonte's a better rapper than you too and clearly destroys you in the singing department. (edit: And T-Pain ditto) Kanye your beats are dope, your boundaries keep expanding, but I wanna hear more of that new Jazzanova album (edit: Of All The Things) and more of Phonte collabos - fire!

Keak Da Sneak ft San Quinn - She's Fine

Man this is on some classic Freestyle shit and it puts John Legend's "Green Light" to shame. I called for a remix of Green Light with Legend's hook minimized and Andre 3000 dominating the track which Diplo came through with, now I'm calling out (to all area crews - Lyrics Born) for a remix of this track with that same Andre verse to appear on this track. I'm thinking it'll fit nicely. Shit maybe I should just start producing...

Nina Simone was one of the all time greats in music. She had a voice and soul that told the story of people - people and their struggles, their victories and their defeats, their spirit and their hopes. Here Comes The Sun is a Beatles cover and beautifully remixed and rendered by the one and only legendary Francois K in one of those classic "midnight" or "quiet storm" mixes. R.I.P. Ms Simone.
