DJ Theory (Jake Krauth) is all about moving forward. Born and raised in the hills of Western MA, he's been making music since he was in his huggies. Raised in a musical family, he got his first chops on the piano and drums, before graduating to the turntables at age 16. Nine years later, and now transplanted to the Bay Area of CA, Theory continues to push the boundaries of each style of music he creates and performs live.

Theory is well-known for tackling many genres while always taking an authentic and unique approach to each flavor. You can find him lighters up in the heat of the dancehall, flexing cuts live on stage at hip hop shows, smoothing out the sexiest lounge in town, or hands up, getting buck in the club to high-energy bombs until you've sweat it all out. With every set that Theory plays, you can be sure of good times, raw talent, and an authentic and unique experience. To put it simply, DJ Theory plays "music for the people".

With everyone and their grandma bluffing as DJ's these days, it's essential to have aces like Theory out there holdin it down every day for the masses. As producer and DJ for MA-based hip hop groups The Problemaddicts and Lyke Minds, Theory has performed, toured, produced, scratched, mixed and collaborated with artists like Masta' Ace, Planet Asia, Tash of Tha Alkaholiks, El Da Sensei, Akrobatik, Jahdan, and more. Throughout the years Theory has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many of his influences, just a few of which have included KRS-One, Sizzla, Mos Def, N.E.R.D, Ghostface, Brother Ali, Dead Prez, Antibalas, Soulive, Sean Price & Bootcamp, Little Brother, GZA, and many more... As founder and co-owner of Mystika Music LLC, Theory has taken a hands-on approach to the music business by supporting, building and promoting himself and affiliated artists.

Theory never ceases to prove his dedication as an artist and an individual, and still at a young age Theory displays a sense of maturity and experience behind the decks that challenges many veterans. Big things are surely on the horizon for '09. "Ever forward, never backward."

Current projects include solo production and remixes for The Problemaddicts, Jahdan & Noble Society, 77Klash, Jamtech Foundation (Sweden), Upsetta Sound (JA), and more. The Problemaddicts last album "The Dark Side of OZ" is currently #10 on CMJ Hip Hop chart, as was highlighted in CMJ magazine as a top gainer for the month of January moving 23 spots.
